I made it a point not to discuss my own preferences on socialized medicine (although it wouldn't take a mental giant to guess what they are), I merely speculated on the motives of those who oppose it. Political power is not restricted to governmments, it happens whenever one man's decisions affect another man's life.
I'm sure socialized medicine has its benefits and drawbacks, and the problem needs study and debate and compromise. But when people tell me they want absolutely no part of it under any circumstances and that I shouldn't even be thinking about it...well, I know I'm being conned.
