Your system sucks Tom. It's broken. Your assumptions that all those people already have access to health care is just plain wrong. There is a large block of people in that middle segment that work for corporations that have no health care benefits and obviously haven't the funds for private alternatives or are locked out of participation by pre-existing medical conditions.

All of these states, no matter what their ulterior motives might be, are attempting to plug that broken system whether you like it or not.

The noble thing to do would be to just go directly to a fully socialized system but we all know that the direct route would cause some form of economic chaos as all those people that work in the insurance industry would suddenly find themselves out of work. What these states are doing are taking that interim jump that can ease that transition and your guy George is blocking their action by his bullying methods as is the modus operandi for this administration. Problem is his way of doing things is going to kill people.

You've a cold and calculating heart there Tom and topics like this shine the light of day on it. Your motive is clearly financial and there's no room in your world for any form of helping your neighbor as long as you and yours are taken care of.

I abhor the fact that these states are having to take the steps they are to fill that gap our nation has created but the Washington power party won't allow any other method. Leaders of both parties are puppets of the insurance and pharmaceutical corporations. What you're seeing though is the backlash of the political and financial power of the other industries that are being brought to their knees by the huge burden of employee medical benefits. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Let's hope it can be settled in a civil manner.
