Didn't take long to get to the "screw the facts" stage, although others have gotten there sooner.
One person falling through the cracks, or even hundreds out of 300 million, is not a good reason for destroying our system of providing high-quality care to a country ten times the population of Canada.
As for "concern for other humans" versus "power grab:" The details of the legislation already discussed are proof that the goal is not just to help those who need it.
It is a power grab. Look up the legislation (Children's Health and Medicare Protection Act of 2007, H.R. 3162). I didn't even get to the pork in it.
