I'm going to paraphrase, so please be patient with me. It appears that the stabs made at the topic so far, though interesting and even fun to read, have dealt mostly with what present-day conservatives would have done differently in the past, or what kinds of ficticious historical worlds conservatives would find attractive.
I believe the question is, "What are the present aims and hopes -- not the same thing -- of conservatives?" This would include what of our historical legacy would they undo (not wish were undone or never done) and why; what they would do now and why; what they hope to achieve and why; and how their present aims coincide with or differ from conservatives from other eras in this nation's, and Western, history.
This places the bulk of the question squarely in the present, in this world, with our current set of circumstances. There is room for philosophical rambles, for historical research, and for musings of other kinds, including fiction, but none of that is required.
Is this anywhere near what you had in mind, Robert? Would you please correct what I have wrong?
