Is your plan to continue to mistate our reason for returuning to the Moon, in hopes of confusing the public at large? It appears that Tumlinson has his hopes here, but is this what anyone in the Mars Society hopes to accomplish, or is it just you?

My guess is that right now, mistating our reasons for returning to the Moon will not change anything, and at this point in time even continually mistating them will heve no effect. It will only result in a loss of credibility on the part of those attempting it, and do nothing more than irritate many.

In other words, if "Mars Enthusiasts" attempt to mistate our reasons for returning to the Moon, or attempt to belittle them, it will do nothing more than to further isolate them much further than they already are from the public at large.

Maybe Tom will play this game with you, but I won't, as my own plan is simply to deny you any opportunity to mistate our reasons for returning to the Moon, the reasons for which Tom made clear in his reply to you. Not only is science not being "scrapped", even Mars science is not being "scrapped", though some of it may be delayed for only a couple of years. It is a question of priorities, and of the allocation of scarce resources, and clearly not everyone shares your neuorotic fixation of sending men to your fantasy of Mars. Even fewer will share it when the Mars water data finally comes in, which is only a few short weeks away.

In concluding, my own thinking is that whatever you "Mars Enthusiasts" attempt to do, the plan will likely remain the same: Back to the Moon, this time to stay, and then on, on to Mars. You may want to consider this before you try to waste everyone's time with a pathetic attempt at spin.

How's that for a "reality check"
