Zubrin was right to stick by his guns. Mars is the only place where humans have a chance of building a new civilization off the Earth. Doing anything else in space is a waste. If the Mars Society was still true to its founding prinicples it would denounce VSE as government waste and demand Mars Direct NOW!
Zubrin should have been named head of NASA. Instead of sending robots to get Mars rocks he would send humans, 1,000 times as effective!
