As usual: Mark is both perceptive and correct

A key point that Mark made:

Mike Griffin is definitely the right man for the job. The disturbing question is whether or not Mike Griffin accepted a poisoned chalice with the Space Program beyond repair. In an earlier post that was part of this thread, I pointed out some funding issues that imply Mars is NOT part of the agenda and this exercise maybe purely Flag and Footprints. ***IF*** CEV is merely a scaled up Apollo Command Module (incapable of Earth return from Mars) then we can stop paying attention and move on to other business because this will be purely Flag and Footprints.
