Appropriate That You Don't Use A Real Name

Fantasy name for a fantasy story eh? KSR's books sucked in many ways in my view. Totally silly economics. Totally unrealistic Mars dirt before humans fanatics. Their only redeeming feature was in exploring some of the technology that could be used to colonize Mars. I'd also hardly call decades of warfare a utopia most people would aspire to so you seem a little grounded outside reality. Even at the end of KSR's trilogy Mars was hardly a utopia.

I've been to about half the Mars Society conventions and most of the people there bare little resemblence to your caricature. Zubrin is certainly adamit and blustery in support of Mars first and his over bearing nature has probably hurt the cause as much at times as his enthusiasm and technical expertise have helped it at others. If you consider technological growth and opportunities to explore new ways of living utopian then your claims may have some validity, but they also apply to space advocates in general in my view.

Like many moon firsters you seem more intent on dissing Mars supporters than making a case for your side. So exactly which fantasy cult do you belong to? Is it the Moon is a launching pad cult which ignores physics or the Privatize space cult that ignores economics? I'm referring there to the subcult that thinks NASA only has to cease to exist to open the doors to private spaceflight.

Mark
