Is There Any Point Reading Past The First Paragraph?

It has been pointed out many times that EP's radiation issue is a non issue. Three feet of rock near term/as long as needed or terraforming Mars atmosphere long term would provide sufficient protection. EP exhibits the common misconception that Earth's magnetosphere is the only thing that protects us from space radiation. Cosmic rays punch right through it and are only stopped by the mass of our atmosphere which is equivelant to a mere three feet of rock. Earth's magnetosphere protects us from the sun's energetic particles which are less energetic but sometimes dense enough to partially punch through both the magnetosphere and the atmosphere. They wreak havic with electronics but don't kill humans. Mars already recieves half the solar radiation as Earth due to its distance and shelters effective against cosmic rays can protect against solar flares as well. Years of this type of info going over EP's head is why few bother debating him on such issues any more.

Mark
