I have lived around these storms for over fifty years and I can tell you this is as unique and unexpected as a sunami.

Florida is and has been better prepared. NOLA is and has been a glossed over cesspool of political corruption for hundreds of years. I lived there for 5 years and it is and has always been the closest thing in the USA to a third world city.

If there were no Iraq and if Kerry were President, the situation would be the same. Anyone who thinks different is full of shit.

The inclination to make this a political issue is disgusting.
