To call what you said "insensitive" would be a compliment. You manifest your total ignorance of the real human condition.

I pay my taxes just like everyone else here. One of the things I expect out of my government is adequate disaster planning and relief. This might be shocking to you, but it's just one of those "insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare" things. In this case, the common defense is against the elements.

In view of the fact that I pay my taxes, I don't think it's too much to ask that some of it be spent for this purpose in a timely, and possibly preventative, fashion.

If we want an every man for himself society, in which we all have to watch out for ourselves, then I'll just start packing a rod. If I don't like what someone is doing, I'll shoot him.

Fortunately, my level of tolerance is high, and I still believe in free speech. You, or anyone else, will still be as free to say any damn stupid heartless thing you want, and the only thing I'll shoot off is my mouth.
