This Is Really Beautiful

I find this Van Gogh more attractive than most of his works. The sky takes on a wave like motion which is repeated in the trees. The trees are mirrored again in the church steeple. The town looks like a quiet town. I suspect those rolling waves may represent wind. The blues convey a coldness. I get cold just looking at it. Can you feel the cold?

The stars. The white and gold stars look like fireflies floating over the ocean. From this interpretation the cliffs would make a beach head and the trees an old broken pier. The white band is a group of incoming waves. The homes would be a cluster of shells on the sand. Can you hear the waves crashing on the shore?

Now it's changed again. The trees aren't trees but flames. The town is on fire. The grey swirls are smoke emerging from the flames. Look at the smoke gather on the horizon. Can you feel the heat?

It's amazing how the same image can have an infinite number of interpretations isn't it?

Gary knew better. This board is the Kobiashi Maru. Just by responding to it, one loses.
