Unbelievable.

You twist my comments like a weather vane during a gale.

I'm saying I have seen folks who have it tough. Very tough. They manage to survive. I'm saying walking away from a house or apartment before a hurricane strikes isn't as easy as driving away but people can do amazing & difficult things when life is on the line.

I've helped many folks who've been down and out. You can't save everyone. You can't stop all suffering. There are folks who know nothing of how some folks live, they live in their communities and never get around to the tough parts of town where survival is a daily proposition, much less have friends among this group.

I'm no more conscience-less than you are. However, from my frame of reference, I don't see any benefit from creating a new "victimized" group which will only be exploited by partisans for their OWN benefit.

I want to help these folks and avoid a repeat performance somewhere else in another time of crisis.

Donating money, goods and blankets goes only so far - after doing this - the best way you can help someone and prevent future tragedies is by teaching them how to help themselves.
