re: New Orleans- Bagdad Redux

Hey Buck, glad to see you on Flame. I just moved five goddamn threads here to join you.

Part of what pains me so much is that actually I share your outrage. I just watched NBC Dateline, a full hour of video, of tens of thousands of people crying out for help, wondering how in God's name their government could have abandoned them to die. I want an answer to that question.

There were also clips of Chertoff and the FEMA Director congratulating themselves on what a goddamn fucking great job they're doing...shit, my fingers are cramping up I'm so tense trying to stay calm.

And I ask myself how all those people got left behind in New Orleans. Oh, sure, I know the "proximate cause", they didn't have money or cars. That's hardly good enough. Now they're talking about a convoy of 500 buses to take people to Houston. Well I want to know why the hell they couldn't have been bussed out of there before the hurricane hit. (The words may sound calm, but I'm starting to bruise my fingertips now on the keyboard.)

I can't go on writing. Honest to God, now the tears are staring. I am so fucking frustrated by this
