What is freedom? Good question......

Westerners tend to view freedom as a liberation from restraint. In philosophy we refer to the status of the will as an uncaused cause of human action. As a Westerner we view freedom as an individual attribute.

Whereas, many in the Mid-East interpret freedom to mean the freedom to structure the world in accordance with their religious precepts. To the Iranian Shiia, freedom is the right they won by overthrowing the Shaw to govern their country by the revealed interpretation of principles found in the Koran.

These views of "freedom" are at odds with one another and are capable of resolution only in a Hegalian sense.

The question is a very interesting one. It will interesting to read the self-serving interpretations you will generate on these boards. Who knows, there might even be some thought content delivered?
