Christianity doesn't make sense to me, period.

Regardless, you can (and must, to be fair) apply that line of thinking to every kind of belief system, whether religious, spiritual, secular or whatever. Why only limit this "right to choose" to accepting or rejecting Christian tenets? I personally think what the typical Muslim parent teaches their child from the Quran is more dangerous and damaging to their psychological and intellectual development than what the typical Christian parent teaches their child from the Bible, but so what? Why should either of them care about what I think? It's none of my business.

It's simply impossible for parents or schools not to "inflict" a value and belief system on children and yet somehow educate them to the degree necessary to make informed choices as adults. You can't teach your child everything, so what you omit automatically slants their worldview, limits their thinking and narrows their choices. In that respect, we're all victims here, as we had no say in how we were raised - and there's little to be done about it. I do know I'd rather be Mary Anne's gay teen in "Catholica", Florida, than in Saudi Arabia or Zimbabwe.
