Religious persecution has to do with creating communities in which only one religion is the standard, and forcing everyone within its confines to conform.

My point, which you in your rush to support some kind of non-existent frontier society you have missed, is that such separatism does harm people who are not given any alternative. It is the whole and entire reason for the inclusion of the establishment clause in the First Amendment.

If, like the Shakers, Mr. Monaghan and Co. wish to build a community composed entirely of adults who have chosen to be there, that's fine with me. But as it is a community in which birth control devices and medications will be forbidden to be sold (can they be "imported"?), I doubt very much that that will be the case.

Your opinion of religion itself is not germaine to your argument. You apparently believe that establishment is OK. I don't.
