Publius commented on his *own* freedom

In that context, the plight of a hypothetical closeted gay teenager (God help him if he's also left-handed!) growing up in Smallmindsville is changing the subject and an appeal to pity, a rather melodramatic and manipulative sidetrack IMO. I will repeat my question with a little rephrasing - how does this planned community impact *your* freedom, Publius', or that of other adults? Answer: it doesn't. You are not being forcibly relocated to live there, you are free to criticise and protest it, or start your own planned commmunity that is decidedly more enlightened.

Now, how children can be spared neglect and abuse during their upbringing is an important question, but one that does not just apply to a family in some "ideal" Catholic community, but all families everywhere. Are you concerned about how Amish children are treated and what they are taught? Atheist families can treat their kids like shit, too. And I have further bad news: it is impossible for minors to be spared all forms of familial neglect and abuse unless a degree of societal control even greater than what is proposed for "Catholica" is exercised, something you apparently disapprove of, ironically.
