re: There is a prejudice in this country

It is against individuals or groups who demand that everyone live and/or believe as they do -- especially those who seek to pass laws to force such behavior.

It is deep-seated in the history and culture of this country. It is the reason often given by various groups for leaving Europe to settle here. It is the reason that representatives of those groups put "the establishment clause" in the First Amendment, and the reason others joined them in the succeeding centuries.

Among other things, that "prejudice" allows you to practice your own religion as you see fit.

Fundamentalist Christians can avoid the prejudice when they cease personifying the behavior. Until then, they are correctly held in mistrust and suspicion.
