I reread the Captain Stormfield website

I read the following:

It's possible the complete story was published in "Harper's Magazine" but only an incomplete fragment was published in book form as an "extract". Does anyone out there know anything about this? A better question: Is anyone out there able to look up old copies of "Harper's Magazine" and compare that version with the book form of "Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven"? Doing this would require access to a university research library.
