The question then is where did the material come from that was in a random state?
I originally intended to put this under alcaray's post above but since the question of who created the creator came up here I'll post the answer here.
Why smart people think that religion solves the first causes problem?
Obviously you have more faith in scientific answers than religious answers.
The religious book does give an answer to the question of, "where did everything come from", where science can only speculate that everything has existed forever and will continue to do so.
If you ask where the Creator came from then you must understand what a creator does, or rather how and why a creator creates.
In computer terminology the question is who created the hardware and the software.
For instance YOU are a creator, the question that you posed has been in a form of a potential until you created it by writing it down.
All of us are creators in that sense, but how many of us can explain exactly why and how that creation happens.
My belief that was obtained from the Bible and various other sources.
In the beginning God created space and mass, then he put the mass into motion and created a division between the high density and the low density mass.
I believe that in the Bible the word heaven has the same meaning as the scientific word space, and I also believe that the word earth as printed in the Bible is equivalent to the modern word mass.
Notice that the words heaven and earth are not capitalized in the genesis part of the Bible.
Newton gave us a formula that states that; force is equivalent to mass times acceleration.
Einstein gave us a formula that states that; energy is equivalent to mass times the speed of light that is raised to the second power.
Maxwell used mathematics to indicate the relationship between magnetism and electricity.
All of these formulas have something in common, they all relate some quality of mass to motion of some form or another.
Newton found out that when mass is accelerated it increases the force of the mass.
Einstein and Maxwell used the Constant, "C" which is the speed of light, in their calculations.
The meaning of the words such as, energy, field, charge, mass, and force, should be explained thoroughly, they all describe some physical effects, but do not explain how the effects are generated.
Energy is explained as the ability to do work. Work can be explained as the conversion of one type of energy into another. Kinetic energy can be converted into potential energy, potential energy being the potential for the ability to do work.
A person or anything else in the universe must be in motion in order to do any work.
Kinetic energy then refers to the power behind movement. Potential energy does not contain motion but it does contain the power to start the process of motion. The word motion refers to the change of distance between two points in space.
Force and energy are related. Energy is the quantity of motion and force is the effect that the motion causes. Force is also the initiator of motion when it is in the potential form.
That is only a part of my belief, if you see something about it that contradicts science then please let me know.
