The problem of causation from chaos is too hard to be addressed from a global point of view. It has to be addressed at the "atomic" level. I'm using the word "atomic" in the classical Greek sense of an "object" that can not be cut or further reduced. I believe Conway’s Game of Life is the starting point for this sort of analysis, refer to:
http://www.gwydir.demon.co.uk/giles/javalife.htm
The rules governing Conway’s Game of Life are very simple but the resultant structures from those rules are incredibly complex. Trying to reverse engineer the basic rules from the resultant structures would be a hopeless task.
There is a fundamental "atomic" building block to space and causation (the two are interlocked). There is a simple set of rules that are analogous to Conway’s Game of Life that enables chaos to drive the assembly and interaction of these "atomic" building blocks. These rules are so simple and primitive that they obey the first principle: "I exist because it is impossible for me not to exist". Note that this is a variation of "Cogito Ergo Sum". Descartes was close but he tripped over his Catholicism. The purest form of chaos (pure white noise) is the sequence of digits of an irrational number, e.g. Pi, e, sqrt(2), sqrt(3), etc. Refer to:
http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2002Jul/gee20020724015572.htm
However Pi can be easily constructed using a simple rule, refer to:
http://www.lacim.uqam.ca/~plouffe/
The "trick" is to invert the simple descrete algorithm that produced the infinite stream of chaos, e.g. a stream of chaos causes the discrete entity to appear spontaneously.
At this point, I do an imitation of a cat chasing his tail until a circuit breaker pops. I then open a can of Dr. Pepper, go over to "Current Events" and watch Tom Brosz amuse himself with the liberals.
