When one has been SO wrong for SO long, the blaming of others has to get intense.

I believe the problem is that the True Believers are now cornered. There is nothing they can claim as having had a positive outcome. Not only that, their every failure was predicted by people whom they ridiculed for predicting that failure. That ridicule is now justifiably turned back on them.

Remember when their posts ended something like this: "Just wait until Iraq is a peaceful democracy, and then you'll have to eat your words!!" Well, they were clearly wrong to the point they can't deny it anymore.

Minds have been twisted into pretzels trying to follow the logic of the war, 9-11, al-Qaeda, WMDs, nukes, freedom, democracy, "The US does not torture terrorist suspects", so many, many lies which had to be accepted as gospel in order for their world-view to make sense. To have the sense they were duped has to create fear to the point they will lash out at those who make this obvious to them.

When I've made a mistake I have two options. One is to accept responsibility, learn the lesson, and move on. The other is to find someone I can point to as worse, scream "Shame on you!!" Daytime TV talk shows are an example of this. The Jerry Springer Show is/was the worst. Geraldo Rivera, etc., are incredibly popular.

When one has character issues to the point of not being able to admit they are wrong, they are then forced to point out the errors in others.

We see it here on a daily basis. Christ saw it, in the mote in the brother's eye, etc.
