Really? I am constantly accused of being a mindless toady for George W. Bush, yet I would gladly put up my own record of where my positions divide with his, with where your positions divide from those of the Democratic Party.
Okay, let's say there is no "Left." There are only large numbers of people, broadly represented today in the Democratic Party, whose positions I could tell you, down to the micrometer, on every issue including the environment, economics, abortion, and dozens of others, and are identical to those held by people who proudly identify themselves as "leftists" or even "socialists." I can't speak for you, but I seriously doubt their positions were arrived at by free-thinking rationalism.
Maybe you're not a member of that group, but the people who comprise one of our (unfortunately) two choices for running this country mostly are, and their views and historical background are not beside the point.
You think this board is bad on polemics, you should see some of the others. On the liberal boards, The Bush Ten Minute Hate is in full swing in the comments. For them, Iraq is mostly something they can use to attack Bush, and I stand by my statement that had Iraq never been invaded, the hate would be just as strong about the lack of a clear victory and peaceful democracy in Afghanistan.
.... and 'action' comes in many more types than just whats found at the point of a gun.
And when I ask for details on this, I usually get a lot of dead air. Iran is building atomic weapons, under an apocalyptic leadership. They DO have an active WMD program. Now what?
