Just doesn't make sense.

Not berserk. Just seemed like a good topic starter.

Believe me, if it were just this incident I'd just laugh it off but after enduring day after day of this religious claptrap our society piles on us, it just is getting very old and very odd.

You have a sense of humor (as warped as it is). Tell me you can't see the irony in what I'm talking about. One person has the LUCK to be in the right place and the right time and she's thanking some invisible sky fairy for sparing her a two by four through the brain when seemingly innocent people who had just as much right to good fortune got splattered.

It's almost like the survivor of a Nazi Death Camp walking up to the genocidal base commander after liberation and thanking them for sparing their life.

How is it Christians and other religionists can have it both ways? They want this God to answer their prayers and protect them but somehow that power doesn't extend to preventing the danger in the first place. One moment the "big dude" is omnipotent, listens to prayers, knows all, sends guardian angels to take care of them. Next second there's this free will crap where he's just this entity that set things in motion and is only watching through his cosmic magnifying glass.

Someone good dies. It's his master plan. We can't know God's ways. Someone evil dies. Wow, we understand that one. We know exactly what the great decider was thinking.

All I can garner out of your reply is that your ironic humor gets shut off when it hits too close to your own philosophy because this stuff is just downright bizarre if you look at it objectively.
