I know how you feel, but I've lived in small towns for many decades and I stay to myself so I don't encounter their pressure. I DO remember right after my divorce, when I moved back into my house with the kids, there were at least three women from the different local congregations who stopped by to see if I wanted to join their church.
I felt like they were invading my privacy and getting ready to meddle.
Boring as their lives were, I couldn't see myself answering any of their curiosities.
To some degree, I have a different perspective on "religion" since my close encounter back in 1975. I remember vividly that night that I was scared, amazed and totally thrown out of my comfort zone.
Where was God in all this?
Today my questions are a hundred times deeper.

- I disagree
- We cannot claim "intelligence" is the summum of the universe
- Without intelligence, the Universe may as well not even exist.

- We can claim "intelligence" is rare in this universe
