Roosevelt is the recipient of the holy martyr, savior of the poor masses, defender of freedom award.
Yeah, like you, my grandfather adored the man and thought he helped pull America out of the depression and put food in hungry mouths.
History and the record shows his policies made Pearl Harbor as close to inevitable as possible, begged for war with Germany and have left us with an economic disaster to face, now.
He made deals with Stalin that were reported in the late forties in the ATruman era - but that stuff is lost in the propaganda noise.
FDR, and his attitude, is also largely responsible for the cold war and Stalin's European ambitions after WWII.
Believe what you want. Propaganda does wonders to create monsters and saints. The truth is always quite different from the spinmeisters image.
