Interesting choice of words because after really working that phrase around in my mind, I can't seem to come up with a solid meaning. Every time I seem to hit on it there always seems to be a very subjective side to it.
I in no way meant to diminish the emotions his choice of words created in you. Believe me, I hear things every day from seemingly intelligent and caring people that really set me back.
What alarms me though is that now you've had a chance to pull back away from the initial emotional response and really analyze the situation and you're still convinced he has this condescending side that you don't seem to be able to reconcile and you're apparently still basing it all on a single paragraph the man uttered.
My contention remains that with that standard, who in this country would be left that would satisfy your requirement for being presidential? I can't think of a single national figure or for that matter any of my own circle of friends and family that has never caused me pause over something they uttered. Yet, to them at the time they spoke, I'm certain they felt absolutely that their intelligence was guiding them and that they were speaking to the audience around them as equal adults.
Must our leaders carefully script everything they say to avoid these human gaffes from time to time? Many already do that choosing to say a lot of words with hazy meanings so that nothing can be held against them or, in the case of our current leader, simply spit out incomprehensible babble.
I would have thought that of all people on here, you'd find someone like Obama refreshing because he hasn't learned fully that non-speak technique or he has and he really sucks at it. This guy seems to me the one of finest orators that politics has seen in many a year and yet he's not good enough.
I don't want to imply anything but this election has shown me some real extremes in bizarre behavior from people I consider extremely intelligent and logical and the common demoninator has been that they are all women who began supporting Hillary Clinton for President. My wife began that way and she gave me some insight that the desire to see a woman at that highest level so overwhelms all other thought that rationalization takes over. She feels it in herself strongly. Her best friend, an amazingly intelligent and very political college professor who would seem a natural fit with Obama jumped firmly into Hillary's camp and has said things against Obama that are borderline racist, shocking me to the core. I know in her heart she doesn't actually believe that. I just feel that he's seen as a such a threat to the first woman to have a shot that it's taken her over.
Now I know that there may be no such rationalization to your reasons for such a reaction against Obama. He certainly is not the perfect candidate. I'm not sure I can define that but, for my own research into this odd thing I see around me I need to ask. Are you or were you a supporter of Senator Clinton and if so, have you had the same experience my wife has had as Obama has taken the lead in this race?
