re: Boy, you really hate FDR.

Well a real education gives one a bit more insight, allowing one to place events and personalities in proper perspective. FDR was the byproduct of his time and when there were many more card carrying communists in the USA. Truman and Eisenhower's purges of communists in government were the equivalent of Khruschev's destalinization program. FDR had corrupted the whole 3 branches with such lifelong socialist/communists seeking to turn the USA into a socialist nation and it took over a decade to clean it up.

When someone wants us to be afraid of everything, the thought of a leader telling us that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself must be weally scawy.

Of course, he led my parents to victory over your family, so I can't really blame you.

One good line in a speech does not equate to a good domestic policy.

No, my family contains both the victors and the defeated something that gives me a unique insight on the mindsets of both. While one of my family was flying a US bomber another invented an effective aerial warning system so the people could get into their basements before the bombs exploded. One great uncle was shot down enroute to Italy, lived for a few days in some small village before succumbing to his wounds. Another great uncle was the only one operating the AA guns when the Italians fled their AA guns. He managed to bring a few planes down before the most of the Italian village was blown to bits, him included. Tales of his courage were passed on by the few villagers that survived the bombing. Another relative was in the South Pacific theater early doing battle with the Japanese, his ship was sunk and all hands were lost.

Balance.

With such history it's hard for me to take sides and say one side deserved to live and the other deserved to die. I see the history and see a totally unnecessary war, brought about by ignorance on both sides and by people who are easily manipulated because they are not well informed. Hitler was an idiot, as was FDR, Stalin and Hirohito.

But your obligatory "Nazi" reference is duly noted and given the conscientious merit it warrants.
