You know why I'm not voting for John McCain?

No matter how cynical I think any of the Democratic candidates are, any of them are still better than the representative of a party that has: dismantled true functions of government, such as financing the upkeep of infrastructure, including that which supports the military which that party professes to love so much; undermined most of the Bill of Rights; and involved us in a war by telling us lie after lie after lie.

I hear from the Republicans that the Democrats want to control the people by taking care of them, even to the point of telling them how to be. What I have seen from the Republicans is that they want to control the power by keeping the people in the dark. Sometimes the dark is literal, because the National Guard isn't there during disasters. Sometimes the dark is administrative, because meetings are held in secret and advisers don't testify before the people's representatives under oath. Sometimes the dark is just the evil of lies in support of torture and violent death. To hell with the people, as long as the power is in the right hands.

If the Democrats say stupid things, I can tell them to stop saying stupid things. [Aside to Barack Obama, who is not reading this: Stop saying stupid things.] I can also fight attempts to control me through legislation by activism, which I have done before, though I'd rather not have to because it's hard work. I have a much harder time stopping things I don't want happening when I'm kept in the dark. But the purveyors of darkness know this.

So, bossyboots vs. darkness. Thank you, I'll take bossyboots. I can see their footprints.
