I'm close to retirement myself and I can testify that everything you said is coming to pass just as you say. I'll be 61 in a couple of months and I'm very much aware of these issues, although I've forseen many of them and taken steps to protect myself somewhat. I've known perfectly well this country couldn't sustain much longer the lifestyle it seems to think it is entitled to. I'm by no means out of the woods yet, I could get outsourced, downsized, laid-off or lose my health insurance. And there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Still, I'm in much better shape than most of my contemporaries, most of them have few resources for the future other than the diminishing value of their homes and losing their jobs (or careers and livelihoods) will mean they will be spending the last years of their lives struggling to survive with a McJob. If they can get any work at all.

"Not exactly the dream promised all our seniors after a life of hard work now is it?" Now you see why I am so pissed off.

What really surprises me is how well you seem to understand all this. Are you SURE you aren't a lefty in disguise?
