The person who gave that talk lived there, and that article was far from the only thing along those lines I've read.

In other words, the "Domino Theory" may not be as utterly discredited as you think, and you shouldn't consider it beyond argument.

Does it ever occur to you that maybe the people pushing the "harmless North Vietnam" meme might have an axe to grind, too, or a reason to shift the history to make their position look right? Where did you first pick up the idea that Southeast Asia would have just peacefully settled into non-communism if left alone? From who?

As far as "slandering," I'm telling you what the prevailing liberal/leftist views were at the time. If you personally happened to be pro-SDI, pro-Contra, pro-confrontation with the Soviets, or pro-anything Reagan did anywhere against the communists in this hemisphere or elsewhere, I apologize.
