No need to apologize.

SDI was a provocative and destabilizing act designed to upset the balance of power by providing a shield against a Russian retaliatory nuclear strike. It deliberately violated ABM treaties the US had insisted on when the Russians tried to pull the same scam on us. Reagan's justifications for it were identical to the ones the Russians used when they were trying to set up their own version (How can anyone possibly object to a purely defensive system? Wink, wink.). It was a setup for an American first strike, pure and simple. I am personally familiar with a proposed system (not SDI) deliberately designed to frustrate other Soviet retaliatory (second-strike) capabilities, without enhancing our own, so I know this was part of our overall strategic policy at the time, not just my misinterpretation Mr Reagan's motives.

The Contras were nun-raping, drug dealing thugs Reagan tried to finance, (after he was specifically forbidden by Congress to do so), with money he attempted to raise by secretly providing aid and comfort to terrorist enemies of the nation . You know my views on that, it was not only grounds for impeachment, it was treason. Reagan's primary reason for existence was to dismantle the New Deal and it's legacy, keep the defense industry fat and happy, and cut down taxes and regulations for his corporate constituency.

By the way, none of these opinions were revealed to me by anyone. Right or wrong, they are the result of my own analyses, not anyone's propaganda.

And as far as I can tell, over three decades later, we are all still waiting for the dominoes to start falling in Asia.
