My, aren't we cheerful?

If people would actually look at the numbers, they'd realize that the economy has been a lot worse and we've gotten through it.

When looking at the elderly and the "diminishing value" of their homes or portfolios, try and remember what they actually PAID for these things, and what the value curves have looked like over the past twenty years. Is my house and stock worth less now than it was a year ago? Damn straight. But it's still worth one HELL of a lot more than what I put into it.

The people who got screwed lately are mostly people trying to play the markets to haul in short-term gains. I suspect if you look at the numbers, you're not going to find a lot of soon-to-retire folks living in their own homes in lousy shape, unless somebody talked them into cashing a big load of equity to go around the world.

Unemployment rate right now is 5.5 percent. When Clinton was running for re-election, the media thought 5.6 percent was glorious.

There are serious issues right now, like the hugely overblown price of oil, but we've been through THAT too.

You can be doomed if you like. I'd rather not.
