Now you're fabricating an alternative history from scratch. But you're right, there is no way I can dispute what might have happened later if something else hadn't happened first. No doubt you can come up with all sorts of documetation to prove I'm mistaken, but they'll also come for apologists for our failed Viet Nam policy.
The rest of your comments are attempts to slander me as someone who thought the entire Cold War was a waste of time on our part, which even a cursory reading of my post would show to be an unfair characterization.
Actually, we SHOULD have been in Viet Nam, but we should have been supporting the other side! While we're writing alternative histories, get a load of this one: just think what a coup it would have been for us if we had wound up with a Communist ally in Viet Nam, a wedge to drive between China and the USSR and a wooden stake in the heart of the Communist movement everywhere.
