I hope you don't think this problem is limited to Catholic priests. A cursory check with any State department of Law Enforcement will yield you more information on pedophilia than you really want to know.
Unfortunately this problem crosses all racial, religious, economic, and educational levels. The only thing that seems consistent that I have seen is that there is no cure for pedophiles, other than keeping them away from children.
Big Brothers (Big Sisters), Boy Scouts, YMCA volunteer group leaders, Church study group leaders and song leaders are all groups that attract pedophiles as well as some of the nicest people.
Protestant preachers (married or not) are no more immune from this than celibate Catholic priests.
