BSA

We had a Scoutmaster, a "pillar of the community" and the father of two boys, married to the same woman for many years, who finally had the feet of clay knocked out from under his pillar. He had been making pornographic films starring him in the back room of his video business, without the knowledge or consent of any of the women he, um, invited. His escapades came to an end when he grabbed the wrong young woman by the breasts (part of the invitation) and she filed a complaint. The cops were in the uncomfortable position of reviewing film of women they knew (not in the Biblical sense) to find out if any of them would like to file charges as well. They all agreed that the pregnant 16-year-old was waaaaay over the line.

If the Boy Scouts prefer to have heterosexual church-going perverts as their leaders, that's just fine.

I have noticed that the BSA will no longer accept the Unitarian Universalist pin for their religion requirement because the UUs accept homosexuality and refuse to condemn atheism and agnosticism, and disagree with the Boy Scouts' position on these issues. So now we have people being denied participation based on sexual orientation and on religion. Goodie.

On the subject of clergy, does anyone want to hear the story of the married Protestant minister, headmaster of a Christian boarding school, who sexually abused children of both sexes with his wife's consent and assistance? (She picked out the child marked for "discipline" in the evenings.) I may have told this one before; one of their victims is a friend of mine, and the outrage hasn't cooled in lo these many years.

Creeps are everywhere.

Mary Anne
