Current Events » in reply to The fewer liars and ignorant the better

Okay, Buster (the busted). Lets go through it and see who is lying.

", but I don't care much for those that lie about what he said prior to the war"

I'm sorry, you said something about ignorance?

How about some quotes:

"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction."

Dick Cheney, Speech to VFW National Convention (Please notice that that is a White House source, Buster).

"If he declares he has none, then we will know that Saddam Hussein is once again misleading the world."

Ari Fleischer, Press Briefing

"We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction, is determined to make more."

Colin Powell, Remarks to UN Security Council

Another reminder about what this war is about:

"If Iraq had disarmed itself, gotten rid of its weapons of mass destruction over the past 12 years, or over the last several months since (UN Resolution) 1441 was enacted, we would not be facing the crisis that we now have before us . . . But the suggestion that we are doing this because we want to go to every country in the Middle East and rearrange all of its pieces is not correct."

Colin Powell, Interview with Radio France International

"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."

George W. Bush Address to the Nation

one of my favorites:

"We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

Donald Rumsfeld, ABC Interview

And this, here, buster, is just the icing on the cake. Here is (from wolfowitz) why we went to war:

"For bureaucratic reasons, we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction (as justification for invading Iraq) because it was the one reason everyone could agree on."

Paul Wolfowitz, Vanity Fair interview

And how about a few JUSt from bush himself?

"Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons. "

George W. Bush, Speech to UN General Assembly

"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. "

George W. Bush, State of the Union Address

"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."

George W. Bush, Address to the Nation

And why do you think bush made his whole pre-emptive self defense argument, and published this revision of american military use policy?Pay attention to sections 3 and 5. Its the first and only revision of the force doctrine of the united states that includes pre-emption without imminent threat. Also buried in there you will see clear intention to use force to preven even another country from becoming militarily advanced enough to even possible threaten us in war.

So if you say this war wasn't about the WMD, then why on earth should I believe you? Huh, Buster?

So are you through re-writing History, Buster? Were you not the one that asked about principles here on this board?

Buster wrote: "ignore what other posters said prior to the war either"

Oh, you were here before the war? I don't remember you... Before this war, the board was all abuzz about WMD and terrorist ties, and that this was pre-emptive self defense. Why don't you find some pre-war links from posts here about how that this war was NOT about WMD at all? Maybe THEN I will think your somethi ng other than a relativist and a revisionist.

Buster wrote: "Deal with it. "

You will find that these un-sourced, unsupported 'because I say so arguments don't get you far with me. Deal with it
