"Note that my correction was not meant to be a cheap shot. It is not uncommon to make such verbal mistakes, and unlike some media people, I don't consider them a sign of idiocy, or seize on them as a method to invalidate entire arguments."
Yeah, I didn't take it as one, and I still appreciate the correction. I'm too dyslexic to put too much stock in flubs-of-the-tongue... Up to a point!
"If you point to a object with lights on it maneuvering across the sky and can prove it's not an airplane, or not a rocket, this does leave you in an uncomfortable position."
Yes, but that alone does not provide any support for the claim that its an alien. You have to show reason to believe it is an alien in conjuction with why its not x, y or z.
"If one really wants to be thorough and honest about this investigation, that is a $64,000 question"
Yes, you are right. It is. Even more so, a lot of small-volume defense production are custom things. I used to read MilSpec magazine because a South African room-mate had relatives in the arms trade (he was a real bastard, too!)... You can see how things like Artillery Hitches or Repair Units (those mobile garage thingies?) by manufacturer X can be entirely different from deal to deal and year to year...
From that experience, I remember how bulky and unsophisticated and archaic-looking 3rd-world market military gear can look. Could be that Marconi put together a low-tech 'cast-iron' version of their hydrogen gas separators and shipped it off to Iraq.
Who knows.
The point is, why should I believe it is a WMD plant?
