Oh, you don't want cute? Okay. Here it is. No 'cute' added.
As usual, you know damn well which people I'm talking about, both in the media, politics, and here. Don't play cute again.
Ah, this 'present company excluded' tac. Yeah, frankly, I do know damn well which people: Anyone who has disagreed with the hairbrained policies you espouse and the completely wacky set of ideas you have had concerning the motivation and need for the Iraq war. I've argued these points with you for three years, and history as basically shown me as correct, and all your notions as fluff.
Your president had the total support of the congress and judiciary for 3 or 4 years, and a free hand to do whatever he wanted with Iraq. This war has subsequently failed, has left the region a mess, has crippled our nation WRT the ability to wield any power internationally, has only worsened the outlook on global terrorism and looks like its only going to get worse from here on out. The only thing standing between the Iraqi people and unrestricted genocide right now are the US troops, and its getting to the point that we are not going to be able to hold the sides apart.
All you have left in this debate are empty pointless maneuvers, some of which I expect you to roll out. In fact, as you read to this point, let me see if I can read your mind... You are thinking of one or more of the following responses:
1. Roll out the fantasy world counterfactual: try to concoct a universe in which we had not invaded and declare that that universe would be no doubt worse.
2. Hand wave away any discussion of the necessity of this war, make the implicit assumption that it was necessary, and then demand that I supply a strategy that 'would have worked better'
3. Sarcastically wave a boogey-man around: ask me what would That evil GORE have done
4. continue to blame things on some Fifth Column (as you have been doing), such as the media, the liberals or war protestors. Without showing how they have somehow trumphed THREE branches of government and caused our efforts to fail in Iraq
You see, Tom, I have just about had it with you and the babbling brook of bumbling bullshit that is the american right. You dumbasses got us into this war, mismanaged it, put us and our troops in an impossible situation and screwed the global status of the US. You and your cognitive ilk have assured that NK can parade functional nukes around, that Iran will become the next regional superpower in the Mideast and just about burned every bridge built by our country over the last 40 years.
Then, you have the NUTS to turn around and start bitching to me about how either me or other people who think like me are out for the downfall of our country.
Well, frankly- here is the deal: You are so full of shit its leaking out your ears. As seen in the last election, not only are people like me not buying this idiocy anymore, a lot of the US has wised up. We know the score, and your 'team' is down 21-to-nothing in the final minutes of the game.
So spare me the endless pontificating pseudo-patriotic prattle. You want to know who is responsible for the disaster we are in- go find a mirror... You and all the other dittoheads and your 'brave new media' blogs and your endless moralizing about war and its virtues.
You wanted me to stop 'playing cute' with you, so there it is, on a frkin' platter.
I don't believe I mentioned treason, which is pretty much beside the point since for all intents and purposes there is no such thing any more anyway.
No, but you do say that some of the left is wishing for our defeat. That may not be technically trason, but damn close.
I simply said that in every issue where our enemies wanted a certain outcome to a controversy, or a certain side presented, that's the side where you'd find these people.
That's nothing new. It was the same during the latter years of the Cold War.
Thats right, Tom... Why don't you wave around a list of 'commie spies in the state department' while your rounding up tired old ghosts and boogey men to try to make your point.

- Your good news was welcome but you never acknowledged the bad.
- Is it your contention that the good news is more newsworthy than the obvious carnage?
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."
- Only hear what you want to hear and disregard the rest, hmm-hmm-mmmm

- Yeah right
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."
- Anyone want to bet that within 2 months the right will be blaming our failure in Iraq on the liberals?
- Watch TV
- Really its not a failure...
- They started blaming the left way before the election.
- A lot of that blame will have been honestly earned.
