Try the scientific method. Put on your thinking cap and predict what will happen if the America's enemies are emboldened and let's see if it happens. The author's point fails more because these events weren't predicted and can't really be shown not to have already been in the works rather than that they aren't a plausible outcomes of anti-US forces being emboldened.
Taking office is irrelevant. What is 2 months compared to the years they've already been willing to wait? They know the Democrats are coming to power and why should they not push harder just to make sure they get what they want ASAP if their perception is the Democrats are the party of cut and run as so many Democrats obviously are?
The left wants to argue for cut and run, but want to claim our enemies aren't waiting and or pushing for the very policies some Democrats promote that benefit them? That's just plain cognitively challenged. If you want to cut our losses at least have the balls to admit you are supporting the same actions as our enemies want even if for different reasons. To do otherwise is far more fundamentally honesty challenged than promoting only the evidence which fits your beliefs on wmd (coincidently shared by the previous administration of the other party -yet another frequently ignored inconvenient truth).

- Your good news was welcome but you never acknowledged the bad.
- Is it your contention that the good news is more newsworthy than the obvious carnage?
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."
- Only hear what you want to hear and disregard the rest, hmm-hmm-mmmm

- Yeah right
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."
- Anyone want to bet that within 2 months the right will be blaming our failure in Iraq on the liberals?
- Watch TV
- Really its not a failure...
- They started blaming the left way before the election.
- A lot of that blame will have been honestly earned.
