Those media interests owned by folks profiting from Saddam have been screaming about the US and defending Saddam since the WMD inspection period.
Those media interests owned by US concerns and with less investment in Europe have been more even-handed.
My goodness folks!
Rupert Murdoch is in Australia. Fox News is not beholden to Euro-interests OR multinational CORPORATE INTERESTS. He's been pro-US, pro-Bush. Everyone else has been cheerleading for the enemy!
How much intelligence does one need to connect the dots?
We got WESTINGHOUSE, GE and DISNEY delivering the NEWS in America folks.
Their interests are served by domestic and international sales of goods. They have HUGE investments in Europe and throughout the world and war is bad for business, while global corruption is GOOD for business.
If UNOCAL, EXXON or TEXACO ever wanted to lower themselves into the news business we would see an ENTIRELY different news. Folks here would know no more about Iraq than they used to - the same EXACT amount they hear and know about AFRICA - diddly squat.
Every day millions die. The media can create a sense of disaster via perception.
If everybody knew how many people die daily in certain parts of the world they would be SHOCKED. Because the figure FAR exceeds the deaths in IRAQ. Yet perception is used to manipulate minds and have the masses echoing your sentiments - which are, naturally, the ones that further your business interests!
Cigarettes, alcohol and pharmaceutical drugs are killing millions and even cell phones are probably speeding up alzheimers, dyslexia and other brain-based mental deterioration - but these INDUSTRIES are protected. Too much money is at stake. Only in the past 20 years has the cigarette industry been under attackin the US, and the result has been simple: sell more cigs overseas! Europe, China & Russia are choking in seas of smoke - enough to make up for any anti-smoking stuff and drop in US sales. And at the same time they have interests in the media who will keep glorifying smoking on TV and film for as long as they are allowed to.
Europe receives almost no news of its corporate sponsored slaughters in Africa, Burma or elsewhere and instead only hear bad news about US corporate evils. They were totally ignorant of their nations bloody involvement with Saddam and were only good puppets repeating the TotalFinaElf "Not all nations one deals with are democracies" mantra repeated in their media.
It so very simple that a bright 14 year old can understand it!

- Your good news was welcome but you never acknowledged the bad.
- Is it your contention that the good news is more newsworthy than the obvious carnage?
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."
- Only hear what you want to hear and disregard the rest, hmm-hmm-mmmm

- Anyone want to bet that within 2 months the right will be blaming our failure in Iraq on the liberals?
- Watch TV
- Really its not a failure...
- They started blaming the left way before the election.
- A lot of that blame will have been honestly earned.
