It's only cut and run if leaving immediately is your only objective and you are unwilling to consider other alternatives. Now maybe some of the hostility over this term is based on any wiithdrawal being considered cut and run, but that's not how I've ever intended to use the term or thought it was generally used even by Republicans. It's freaken obvious we expect to withdraw sometime and since we have a democracy there, no wmd (yeah oops), and Saddam gone our primary stated objectives have been met (you know the easy military ones) its legitimate to expect a withdrawal at some point.
However, the implied and secondary objectives of stabilizing the middle east and reducing terrorism have not been met, and it is clear military power alone or at least as deployed is insufficient. The tough question is what else needs to be done and how does military force play a part in that. Of course most here don't want to be bothered to think about that, like placing all the blame on Bush solves anything. This place has seriously devolved into a pit of whiners and complainers rather than thinkers like it used to be. We used to propose ideas not just Monday morning quarterback other people's actions.

- Your good news was welcome but you never acknowledged the bad.
- Is it your contention that the good news is more newsworthy than the obvious carnage?
- I would have settled for "as newsworthy."

- Anyone want to bet that within 2 months the right will be blaming our failure in Iraq on the liberals?
- Watch TV
