You know you're a Winger when...

...you write a post like that.

You're batting 1000 for the Telltale Signs of Wingerism. Insisting that "cut-and-run" isn't jingoism, for one. Conversely, insisting that "stay the course" is a strategy, is another. STC does not represent thought of any kind, it's a reaction. Terry Schiavo's body stayed the course. STC was the last order given by the captain of the Titanic. It is not a sign of superior character, let alone superior intellectual capabilities. It's simply stubborn stupidity.

Yet another sign of Wingerism is to argue against strawman delusions, and even worse, insist that if they're not what your opponent's saying, it's what he's thinking, as if you possessed telepathy.

Well I damn sure don't like hearing failed policies promoted as rational alternatives over and over or people making bullshit excuses for not having solutions or wanting to think of them, but I believe you have a right to speak your opinion along with any other assstrummer.

What failed policies am I advocating, ID? What policies, at all, in fact, have I advocated? You're arguing with a figment of your imagination. All I've said is that I'm glad to see that space is opening up in Washington for thought to replace dogma and jingoism. I'm not holding my breath to see the same thing among the Zone's RightWing extremists.

And then there's the classic dodge of trying to deflect attention from the present by bringing up the past. This isn't about Clinton, this is about Bush and his Congressional coconspirators. Bush has been President and Republicans have held Congress for going on six, long, years now. Remember?

Thanks for finally admitting the general liberal attitude around here of STFU towards any opinion they don't like.

Ahh, don't cry, ID. It's not cause you're a Winger, it's simply because you're a pain in the ass. It's a purely human and personal nonpartisan reaction.

How about the one about taking pride in Bush having created a mess so bad that other people are hard-pressed to figure out how to solve it? That's a great one, claiming love of country while delighting in problems that daunt your political opponents. The magnitude of the bind that Bush has gotten us into by no stretch of any imagination other the Winger imagination makes him smart and validates his RightWing ideology.

And then there's ultimate sign of Wingerism, spewing Winger rhetoric while denying you're a Winger. ID, admitting that once or twice you've had doubts about your glorious Leader's policies may strike an authoritarian conservative as a courageous admission, but to a rational person the relentless jingoism and defense of failed policies and a failed leader tells the real story. It's disingenous to try to make yourself look better with that inconsequential fig leaf. What counts is your relentless defense of a President who is all but certain to be remembered by history as the worst President this country's had in over a century, if not all time.

Hey, if you want to stay-the-course and defend the indefensible, you go right ahead. The rest of us are already moving on.
