Not surprised

that your response is not about the charges he brings but instead the style of the messenger. What you continually fail to realize Tom is that the issues raised require this type of anger and outrage.

I'm sorry but even with Murrow's unrelenting campaign against McCarthy, it's very likely his "lack of emotion" (and I've seen the original telecasts and you're distorting the amount of outrage) allowed the damage to go on longer than it had to. I'm certain there were "voices of reason" during the rise of Hitler's regime but somehow the howling from the Nazis drowned them out and stirred the public.

When faced with evil, one must shout the message from the rooftops and not simply talk calmly about it, especially in this age of way too many media choices. Stars of your own party understand this and have used shock jocks on the radio and television to spit out their vitriolic message. I am also not surprised you aren't angered and annoyed by their tactics.

But here's the bottom line with Olbermann. He is an actor and performer but I truly believe the man to be pissed and concerned about his country. I'm an actor myself Tom and I can spot a phony a mile away. None of the indicators are there with this man just as they didn't exist with Murrow. I'll bet you could ask most people that see his broadcast and they'd be convinced as I am of his sincerity.

I think it's time for introspection on your part but I won't hold my breath. Your analysis is continually one of wishful thinking when the message doesn't match what you believe. There must be a political motivation. The guy wants to sell a book. Well often there is some truth to those accusations but history and a study of human nature shows us that it isn't always the case and in my life I have an excellent track record of finding the diamond in the turds. Keith Olbermann has had an epiphany in life just as Murrow did. There is a huge risk in his business of taking on power as he's doing but I believe his patriotism and love of our country is guiding his rants.

Why do I know this Tom? It's simple. I've undergone the exact same transformation that he has in the last decade. I've felt the anger building in me in the exact same manner and would be saying the same words if I had the bully pulpit he does. My anger and indignation would push me down the same path. You have no clue. The other side merely annoys you. This bunch boils my blood.
