Indeed Republican morality is amazing.....

I am most impressed by your compassion for "Scooter" Libby, one of the Republican Inner Circle. And, I continue to be amazed at your consistency at finding ways of excusing the actions of Mr. Bush. You have demonstrated abilities to bend and twist and side-step that would be envied by the performers at Cirque du solie.

Your reasoning seems to be that since no one has been found guilty for
the outing of Valerie Plame, it is improper for Libby to be imprisoned
for his perjury, abuse of office and participating in an attempt to
draw attention away from Cheney, Rove and company.

You argue that it was improper to prosecute Libby for the offenses he
actually committed because the prime malefactor was never caught nor
prosecuted. Having been found guilty of what the conservative National
Review characterizes as "process crimes", the 30 months sentence
imposed by the judge for what is now minimized, as a "crazy political
fight" is a travesty of justice. A "process crime" was; however,
appropriate to warrant a bill of impeachment for a Democratic
President. And now Bush's commuting the sentence demonstrates this administration has no shame.

Somehow this upside down logic reminded me of a commentary penned by Thomas De Quincey in his 1827 work, "Murder considered as one of the fine arts: " "If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination."
