Commuting the penalty is in essence saying: 'Yeah, He's guilty. I don't dispute that he's guilty. Its just that he is above punishment. NannyNannyNyahNyah we're above the law!.' .

Either the President believes or knows he is not guilty and grants a pardon, or he is in fact guilty of the crimes and thus should serve his full sentence. At least when Ford pardoned Nixon, it was cast in the 'lets heal the nation and move on' story.

To be vulgar: This is just a horseshit sandwich on a bullshit bun.
