Fixing what's broken would be focusing on those few cracks in the system that need to be patched. We feed the poor with food stamps. We don't nationalize the farms, food manufacturers, and grocery stores.
The actual serious problems in the U.S. are very small, which is why the proponents of a government takeover of the health care system rely on emotion, anecdotes, and statistical sleight-of-hand, because the hard numbers blow their case clean out of the water.
We already HAVE a government medical care system for the poor and elderly. We already HAVE government care for veterans, and ironically, proponents of national health care often use it as a good example of how well such systems work.
People telling you that large numbers of people are not getting what they need are not telling you the truth. They're trying to sell you something.
You're being HAD. I'm not sure how much clearer I can make it.
