In my book, it isn't "forcing somebody else to pay for helping others then grabbing all the credit for it." Politicians pushing national health care fall into this category. Neither is it pushing a whole country into a bureaucratic trillion-dollar system that will not be able to deliver what people will need just to enhance someone's political power.
Can you think of ANY major government program that has delivered an effective product on time and for a low cost? What example have you got for superb government cost/benefit numbers? Military spending? Highway construction? Mass transit? The space program? The education system?
Ironically, if you want a real example of "caring," I can point you to DJL's volunteering to help at a hospital.
See the difference?
Definition of "caring."
