Oh what a crock

Tom, I've worked closely with government and although you're right that there are those loose cannons that are concerned only with empire building, they are certainly few and far between. Most governmental employees are nothing more than people like all the rest of us and of those, many have wonderful ethics and the best of intentions in regards to the health and well-being of the country and its citizens.

In this country we are the government so if the bureaucracy is to be feared it is because we ourselves can't be trusted. That's a pretty cynical outlook from someone that's been calling the rest of us anomalists for suggesting that there were some trying to change the basic essence of our democracy.

I think your post was pretty telling in that it had this common theme of "me". If this happens poor pitiful me is going to be victimized by the evil establishment and the power brokers that want my gold to feed and doctor the vermin out there. There never is an "us" factor in any of your logic. You aren't a citizen of Earth, a neighbor of your fellow Americans, a friend to the local inhabitants. You're a hermit on a deserted island that wants to be able to accumulate your wealth, build your castle, and sneer at the peasants on the horizon.

Your feeble attempt to try to put numbers to this issue are nothing more than your typical smoke screen. You know that in the past throwing out numbers confuses the issue so it takes longer to get dealt with. The truth is your numbers are flat out wrong because they omit so many factors that at this time cannot be easily quantified. However, any reasonable and logical person can see those factors clearly. Tony did a marvelous job of pointing out those things your conveniently forget.

This post probably needs to get moved to Flame because we're getting to that point where blood's starting to flow. Hopefully though each of our health plans will cover the bandages.
